Understanding the Three Types of Custom Packs

The Choicer Voicer engine supports three distinct custom package structures.

Folder: packs_voice/

Standard Voice Packs

Contains individual voice acting samples (WAV/MP3/OGG) that players mimic in the core game. Evaluated for pitch, volume, and syllabic timing.

  • 16-bit PCM WAV (recommended)
  • Subtitle .txt files for each clip
  • Duration limit: under 60 seconds per line
Folder: packs_voice/

Cinematic Dub Packs

Combines an OGV (Ogg Theora) video file, isolated dialogue audio lines, and a separate _backing_track (BGM/SFX) for live movie dubbing.

  • OGV (Theora) video format
  • Numbered dialogue stems (01_line.wav)
  • Dub-only timing metadata configuration
Folder: packs_player/

Player Contestant Modpacks

Custom contestant avatars, greeting audio, cheering reactions (triggered on 85%+ scores), and disappointment audio lines.

  • player.png (1000px+ vertical portrait)
  • talk_greet.wav, talk_cheer.wav
  • talk_upset.wav reaction soundbites

Voice Pack FAQ

Why does the game prefer WAV over MP3?

Uncompressed 16-bit PCM WAV files decode faster in the audio matching buffer and avoid MP3 compression padding artifacts, ensuring accurate millisecond scoring.

Why must Dub Mode videos be in OGV format?

The Godot game engine natively decodes Ogg Theora (.ogv) video streams smoothly on both Windows and Linux without relying on proprietary third-party OS video codecs.
